How To Apply

Madang, PNG worker picking capsicum

All recruitment in PNG runs through district or provincial administrations. We work closely with Members of Parliament and their administrations to ensure the best workers are selected to work in Australia.

We have a strict NO WANTOKS policy. All applicants are vetted by external recruiters and will not be accepted if they do not meet our high standards. There are at least 2-3 interviews before a candidate is short-listed for selection.

We only recruit workers with active experience. If you want to work in agriculture, you must currently be working in agriculture for 10-12 hours per day to be considered. If you want to work in hospitality, you must be currently working in a restaurant, hotel or club. If you want to work in fisheries, you must have current experience working on fishing vessels.

This is how we ensure PNG workers are the best workers for Australian employers.

Where do I get an application form?

The LMU does NOT provide application forms and does not accept unsolicited applications from the public.

All recruitment runs through district or provincial administrations. Click here for participating regions and their contact details.

Some administrations may issue a call for applications. Some will rely on referrals from ward leaders. Each region makes its own decisions about the best way to recruit workers.

We advertise worker recruitments through our Facebook page @PNGLMU. From time to time, we may also advertise for specific skills such as beekeeping, fish farming, cooking, heavy machinery operation, etc. Please follow the Facebook page for notification.
